Clean Air, Clean Water and Clean Soil

Too much to ask? No! A healthy environment is a human right. Everyone depends on clean air to breathe, safe water to drink and healthy soil for growing nutritious food. But more and more it seems that our drinking water is chemical-laden, our air is polluted and the soil growing our food is depleted and toxic.

So what do we do? We need to demand rigorous testing and well-thought-out, enforced policies at all levels of government to protect our environments. Most corporations do not have a moral bottom line. Decisions are financial with little heed to human health. We need to fight back. And we can choose to live differently.

Here at Whole Village I feel so lucky to live in a relatively non-toxic environment. For the past 22 years and for many years before that, this 191 acre farm has been chemical free. We are strictly organic in our growing methods. We farm great soil! We grow as much of our food as we can manage and it’s really delicious.

Our air is not perfect. I don’t think there’s anywhere on earth anymore with really clean air. At the same time, the air here is much cleaner than in urban areas. We have a prevailing west wind and no toxic sources nearby. I can breathe deeply and be thankful for what we have.

Best of all is our water! We are at the headwaters of the Credit River. We are on an aquifer that delivers us beautiful, chemical-free water in abundance. I love to drink it and savour the taste – it’s fantastic.

Join us if you can – we have space opening up soon.
